Dear colleagues!

We cordially invite you to participate in a seminar «European Certificate in Psychology (EuroPsy): Growing Competitive Opportunities for Universities and their Alumni» that will be held on November 30, 2019.  The seminar is organized by the National Psychological Association of Ukraine (the only national representative of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations) with the support of SE «Ukrainian State Center for International Education» of the Ministry of Education and Science, and participation of Dr. Rosaleen McElvaney, Chair of the EuroPsy European Awarding Committee.

The seminar is designed to introduce EuroPsy, which is a European standard of education, professional training and competence in psychology set by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA). EuroPsy certificate is already implemented across 24 countries in Europe and provides the following:

  • assessment of professional competence in the context of compliance with European professional standards and practice in psychology;
  • issuing a EuroPsy certificate to psychologists who have demonstrated that they met these standards;
  • registration into the EuroPsy Register of psychologists.

The European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations, in promoting and distributing EuroPsy certificate, aims to: establish a standard for quality in education and practice in psychology; building an educational psychological network in Europe; improving the quality and accessibility of quality psychological services; enhancing educational and professional mobility in Europe.

 The seminar will address the following issues:

  • What is EuroPsy certificate?
  • What are the minimum requirements for obtaining the EurоPsy certificate and how can Ukrainian Universities facilitate the certification?
  • What competencies do professionals need to obtain a certificate?
  • What is the certification process and procedure?

Adoption of the EuroPsy educational standards is a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian higher education, in particular, it can prove quality of education, increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian Universities and their graduates of faculties of psychology; promote educational and professional mobility in Europe; create a favorable climate for international education in Ukraine.

The seminar will be useful for representatives of the Departments of Psychology (deans, deputy deans, heads and deputy heads of departments), employees of international departments of Universities, as well as all persons interested in improving quality of psychological education in Ukraine.

The role of psychologist in Mental Health System

Speaker: Professor Rachel Tribe works at the School of Psychology at the University of East London in Britain. She is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society and the Royal Society of Arts. She is an active clinician and is involved in national and international consultancy, training and research. She is the trustee of two international mental health charities and has published over 100 journal articles and book chapters. She has edited three books, the most recent of which is Tribe, R & Morrissey, J. (eds) (2019 – in press) The Handbook of Professional, Ethical and Research Practice for Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Psychiatrists & Counsellors. This will be the 3rd edition of this book. She has been involved in the crafting of six global position statements on a range of topics across a spectrum of national and international challenges around mental health and wellbeing on behalf of Careif (The Centre for Research and Evaluation – International Federation). She regularly contributes to conferences and workshops for a range of mental health professionals, community groups, governmental and non-governmental organisations.

Key points: Psychologists can contribute to mental health through working with individuals, couples, families, communities and systems. They can work with people suffering from mental health conditions through to those people who are struggling with life dilemmas and challenges . Psychologists may work in hospitals, private practice, in business, schools or other organisations. This talk will give a range of examples of work undertaken in Britain and other countries. It will also provide opportunities for participants to reflect upon their own skills and practice and consider what additional opportunities there may be.
