Artem Osipyan – psychologist, expert in the field of addictology, member of the National Psychological Association (Ukraine) and Ukrainian Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists; works at the Ukrainian Mental Health and Monitoring Centre on Drugs and Alcohol (UMHMCDA) under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
This lecture is devoted to the latest studies, statistics and data on drug abuse. The current state of science and practice of mental and behavioral drug disorders treatment will be analyzed. The main existing models and concepts will be discussed. The effectiveness of each will be highlighted. We will also refocus attention on approaches that has been successfully implemented in Europe and in the US. We will consider those which are the most effectively put into practice.
We will consider such questions as:
- the modern understanding of «drug use», «drug abuse» and «drug dependence»
- the prevalence and burden of mental and behavioral disorders caused by the use of psychoactive substances
- forms of assistance and efficient practices
- the main indicators of effective treatment
